How we work

Inside a partnership

Once we are set up, the work has a steady rhythm. You send new content as it comes, through whichever tool fits your team (email, shared drive, Slack, your project management tool). We deliver to agreed turnaround times, and the content comes back ready to publish.

We check in once a month with a short summary: what has been delivered, what is in progress, and anything that needs your input. Beyond that, you reach us directly when something is urgent. No additional project manager or ticket system necessary.

Transparent prices, before you ask.

Localization pricing is usually opaque, and we think that does not serve anyone well. The four examples below are typical projects with what they would cost. They give you a realistic sense of the investment up front, so you can decide whether a conversation makes sense without having to ask for a number first.

Content audit

A written audit of the Norwegian content you already have published, looking at how the tone, arguments and framing land for Norwegian readers. You get a report with what is working, what is holding back conversion, and a prioritized list of what to change first. The audit covers around 5 to 10 pages of content, and we walk through the findings with you in a follow-up call.

A B2C landing page of around 1,000 words, localized in full from English. We go through the original page and the product behind it before we start writing, then adapt the arguments, tone and calls to action so they fit how Norwegian customers think about your category. The work includes two rounds of revision with you, a final quality check, and delivery in the format your team can publish directly.

Full app localization

A full app localized into Norwegian, from UI strings and onboarding flows to in-app messaging, help content and app store descriptions. We work directly in your localization platform or string files, set up a Norwegian glossary that we maintain across everything we deliver, and check every translation inside the running app before sign-off, because a string can read perfectly in a file and still feel wrong once it sits inside a button or screen. Typical scope is around 8,000 to 12,000 words.

Monthly localization partnership

A monthly arrangement for clients with a steady flow of Norwegian content. The retainer covers roughly 5,000 words a month across landing pages, emails, product updates and similar, with consistent terminology and tone managed across everything we deliver. You get direct contact with the translator working on your brand, no project manager in between, and a short monthly summary covering what was delivered and anything that needs your input. The minimum commitment is three months, after which the arrangement continues month to month.

First conversation

The first conversation is a thirty-minute call you can book yourself or set up by sending the form below. It is free and with no commitment beyond the call itself. We use it to understand what you have, what you are trying to do in Norway, and what kind of work would actually move things forward. By the end you should know whether we are the right team for the job, and we have a clear enough picture to put together a proposal.

Written proposal

After the call, you get a written proposal with a clear scope and a fixed price. Nothing is hidden in hourly estimates or vague deliverables. You know what you are paying for, what you will get, and when you will get it, before anything is signed.

Setup

Once we have agreement, we go through your source material in detail and send any questions back to you before we start writing. The answers we get here shape how well the finished content lands with Norwegian readers, so it is worth taking the time. We set up a Norwegian glossary for your brand at this point. For tools, we work inside your platform if you already have one in place, and otherwise set up our own.

Work and delivery

The work itself runs to the timeline we agreed on. As a guide, an audit usually takes three to four working days, and a landing page around two weeks. Larger projects like a full app take longer and depend on scope, which we agree on up front. We deliver where it suits your team, whether by email, in a shared drive or wherever you already work, and in the file format you need. One or two rounds of revision are built into the project.

A message from the founder.

I founded InNorwegian in 2024, after five years as a freelance translator, with the intense motivation to do something more with my work. My background is in English Literature, which I studied at UK universities, and I completed a Master's degree in the field in 2018. Throughout my five years of freelancing, I lived across Cardiff, Bergen and Belfast, mostly working on TV subtitling, marketing translation and related content for international agencies. The freelance market in those years was under steady pressure: prices kept dropping, deadlines kept tightening, and the bigger agencies were getting comfortable with quality that was clearly slipping. I was not very happy.

Inspired by other female founders and entrepreneurs in the industry, I created InNorwegian to work directly with clients who take the Norwegian market seriously. My company has grown in two years from a one-woman operation to a team of four translators: myself, Alexandra, Olav and Ragnhild. As a small team, we have the room to focus on achieving the highest quality work for our clients, while easily keeping up with the rapid changes within the technological world. We neither refuse to acknowledge the usefulness of AI, nor do we deny that true craftsmanship and results can only come from people who know what they are doing. We are right where you want us.

Things we are often asked before a first conversation.

Most projects we take on are English to Norwegian, and that is our specialty. We also work Norwegian to English. For other source languages, ask us, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right team for the job.
We work in Bokmål for almost everything. That is the variety the vast majority of Norwegian commercial content uses, and what most readers expect. We can also work in Nynorsk when there is a clear reason to, but it is a separate skill set and not the default for marketing or B2B content.
Yes, and we sign one as a matter of course on any project that involves unreleased product information, customer data or anything else you would prefer to keep confidential. You can send us your standard NDA or use ours.
Typical timing: an audit takes three to four working days, a landing page about two weeks, and larger projects like a full app are scoped up front. Smaller content under 500 words we can often turn around in two to three working days. If you need something faster, ask, and we will tell you whether it is realistic.
Every translation goes through a review pass by a second translator on the team before it leaves us. We maintain a Norwegian glossary for each client so terminology stays consistent across projects, and we add in-context review on larger jobs where it makes sense. Beyond process, the biggest safeguard is that the team is small enough that whoever is working on your content actually knows your brand.
AI translation is real, and we use it ourselves on parts of a project where it helps. The catch is that AI is grammatically competent but strategically blind. It does not know what your brand is trying to achieve in the Norwegian market, or how a Norwegian reader will react to a specific argument, framing or tone. The result is content that passes a surface read but underperforms in front of actual customers, sometimes in ways you cannot see even if you understand Norwegian yourself. As experienced translators and localization experts, we don't only fill the gap but ensure that your messaging will hit where you intend.
The main difference is that we work toward your goals, not just your text. Before we start writing, we ask what you are actually trying to achieve in the Norwegian market, and we shape the translation around that, including the arguments, the tone and the emphasis.
